RHESI Levee Monitoring, Alpine Rhine Valley

Alpine Rhine Valley, Austria & Switzerland
Project duration:  January 2025 – still active
As part of the RHESI initiative to restore the Alpine Rhine Valley, the project team needed a precise system to track levee movements and ensure flood protection. The Basetime Locator One provided an automated, real-time monitoring solution with alarm capabilities and water-level tracking, replacing labor-intensive conventional survey methods.
RHESI levee monitoring setup with numerous Basetime Locator One devices installed along the Alpine Rhine Valley levees for early risk detection, 2025.

Increased flood safety and a safer living environment supported by automated alerts for critical levee movements.

Project Purpose

The objective was to continuously detect levee settlements during restoration work and identify risks for flood safety at an early stage. High-frequency measurements were required, which traditional GPS or total-station surveys could not deliver efficiently or economically.

Implemented Solution

A total of 178 Locator One units were installed along the levees, supported by a central base station to enhance positional accuracy. Landmark, Attenberger’s Austrian subsidiary, delivered and commissioned the system and provided comprehensive training in the Parvamoti analysis platform for daily monitoring, automated reporting and alert management.
